Sacramento Fire Department and Metro Fire Combine on Recruiting Event at Golden 1 Center

Sacramento, CA. – The Sacramento Fire Department (SFD) and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District (Metro Fire) will collaboratively present an interactive recruiting event at the Golden 1 Center on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 between 11 am and 1 pm on the DOCO Plaza. Additionally, as part of the Sacramento Kings First Responder Appreciation Night the Sacramento Area Fire Fighters Local 522 Honor Guard will present the colors during the pregame National Anthem and the agencies will display wildland fire engines and equipment on the DOCO throughout the day and during the gate opening for the game versus the Atlanta Hawks.

Anyone interested in a fire service career, including firefighting and non-firefighting positions, is invited to visit the DOCO between the hours of 11 am and 1 pm to speak with recruiters from both the SFD and Metro Fire on career planning, advice, and to ask any questions about working in a public safety organization. Visitors will also have the opportunity to for experience elements of the firefighter physical ability test by actually performing some of the events themselves, with coaching from experienced firefighters and the health and fitness program coordinators (“coaches”) of both Metro Fire and SFD.

We encourage all members of our community to attend this event, regardless of their interest in a career in public safety. Safety education information and prizes will be available for children as well as the opportunity to engage with members of the local fire service.

For media inquiries and to schedule a time to attend and participate in the firefighter physical abilities test, please contact either Captain Chris Vestal or Captain Keith Wade from Metro Fire and SFD respectively at (916) 616-2430 and (916) 767-2216.
