Metro Fire Hosts Fire Camp This Week in Citrus Heights
Citrus Heights, CA. – The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District (Metro Fire or the District) is hosting Fire Camp 2018 at the Metro Fire Recruit Academy located at Station 21 in Citrus Heights. Attended by 80 youth aged 11-13, this camp provides a once in a lifetime experience in teamwork through the framework of the firefighting profession in a fun and exciting atmosphere.
We invite our media partners to attend tomorrow’s event where campers will experience a live automobile extrication demonstration at 11:00 am and in the afternoon learn “Hands Only CPR” and how to use a fire extinguisher while also learning how the public safety 911 system works from Sacramento Regional Fire and EMS Communications Center personnel. On Friday afternoon the campers will graduate Fire Camp at the La Sierra Community Center after participating in a traditional fire service “muster” consisting of bucket brigade, water hockey, and make or break competitions.
Campers and Metro Fire personnel are available for interviews and demonstrations, as well as providing opportunities for any media partners to participate in camp events as well. To attend, please RSVP with Captain Chris Vestal at (916) 859-4589. (Alterations may be possible pending daily availability of personnel.)
