Rio Linda Charter School Damaged by Arson

Sacramento County, CA – Just after 6:00 this morning, Metro Fire crews were dispatched to a school at 6450 20th Street in Rio Linda for a report of smoke in a building. Crews arriving to Heritage Peak Charter School found a small fire that had started near a classroom door, spread into the wall, up the electrical chase and into the attic. Crews put out the fire, cutting small holes in the roof and walls to extinguish all the fire in the concealed spaces. Though fire damage was minimal, all the classrooms in the building sustained light smoke damage. The school was not open at the time of the fire and no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

Arson Investigators quickly determined the fire was intentionally set and are asking the public for help finding the person(s) responsible for starting this fire.
