Sacramento County, CA - Members of the Arson/Bomb Investigation Unit from Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District and Sacramento County Sheriff Department (Arson/Bomb Task Force), in conjunction with Twin Rivers Unified School District Police Department have arrested two minor males for this morning’s fire at Foothill Ranch Middle School, located at 5001 Diablo Drive in North Highlands.

Just before 4am, Metro Fire crews were dispatched to the school for a report of a building well-involved with fire. First arriving crews were directed to the fire by officers on scene. Firefighters made access into the gym, located the fire in the locker room, and quickly contained it. Damage to the structure was initially estimated at $40,000; estimated damage has since been increased to $100,000. No injuries were caused as a result of this fire.

Based on the manipulation of combustibles in the fire area, the burn pattern, and the lack of an ignition source, investigators have determined the fire was caused by arson. Surveillance footage assisted investigators in identifying suspects, and this afternoon, two 16 year-old the Arson/Bomb Task Force and Twin Rivers PD. arrested males. Both minors have been charged with Felony Vandalism and Arson to a Structure.
