Two-alarm Fire in Fair Oaks Apartment Complex Damages 12 Units

Fair Oaks, CA – Shortly before 10:00PM, Metro Fire crews responding to a two-story apartment complex at 10741 Fair Oaks Boulevard reported multiple units well-involved with fire. They immediately requested a second alarm while initiating fire attack and a search for victims. Firefighters from ten engines, six trucks, two medics, and one air unit worked quickly to keep the fire from destroying additional apartments and spreading to nearby buildings.

With fire in the attic, upstairs, and downstairs units, crews had to fight fire aggressively in order to contain it. The damage to the twelve apartments is estimated at $400,000. Red Cross was requested to assist displaced residents. Arson investigators were called to the scene and the cause is currently under investigation. No injuries to civilians were reported, though two firefighters sustained minor injuries.

In a situation like this, when one fire puts so many lives at risk, smoke alarms can provide those life-saving seconds needed to escape. Don't take fire safety for granted... check your smoke alarms regularly.
