Media Advisory: SAVE Press Conference

Region's Firefighters Provide On-Scene Aid to Fire/Disaster Victims Through Statewide Partnership

Nearly a dozen area fire departments are joining forces with the non-profit California Fire Foundation to offer comfort and assistance for victims of catastrophic fire and disaster. Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency (SAVE) provides families that suffer a significant loss in a fire or disaster on-the-spot financial aid to help them get through those chaotic first hours following a significant property loss.

More than 40 fire departments around the state are implementing SAVE, which is funded largely by donations from firefighters themselves through the California Fire Foundation. Additional support is provided through a grant from Chevron. Local departments participating include Metro Fire, Sacramento City, Cosumnes, West Sacramento, Folsom, Auburn, Lodi, Stockton and Merced.
