Mobile Home Fire Causes Gas Leak, Forcing Evacuations

Sacramento County, CA – Just after 6:30 this evening, Metro Fire crews were dispatched to a fire in a mobile home on the 5000 block of Jackson Street in North Highlands. First arriving crews reported heavy fire from a mobile home that was getting close to surrounding units. A quick fire attack was initiated, and multiple hoselines were used to control the spread to other units, while additional crews searched for potential victims.

A total of twenty-five firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and ensure no one was injured. The home was vacant at the time of the fire, so the cause is currently under investigation. The fire damaged the incoming gas line into the resident creating an uncontrolled leak, prompting evacuations of a few residents near the leak. Once gas was turned off to the entire mobile home park, residents were allowed back to their homes. The property manager will work to restore gas to the mobile home park in the morning.
