Fire in Vacant North Highlands Home Under Investigation

Sacramento County, CA – Just after 11:00 pm tonight, Metro Fire crews were dispatched to a vacant and boarded up duplex on the 3900 block of Renick Way in North Highlands. First arriving crews reported heavy fire in the back of the duplex and immediately initiated fire attack. Multiple hoselines were brought inside the house, while additional crew’s ensured access was gained to all areas of the structure. Despite the duplex showing signs of being unoccupied, firefighter’s first priority is still life safety, and must confirm there are no victims inside the structure.

A total of twenty-four firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, saving a large portion of both sides of the duplex and protecting neighboring houses. Arson investigators responded to the scene; the cause is currently under investigation. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
