Elderly Man Dies in Arden House Fire

Sacramento, CA – Just before 3:30 AM this morning, Metro Fire crews were dispatched to a four-plex on the 800 block of Cathedral Court in the Arden/Arcade area of Sacramento. First arriving crews found smoke showing from a downstairs unit, forced entry, and extinguished the fire inside. They were able to contain the fire to the first floor of a two-story unit, with no extension into the upstairs, attic or other units.

During their primary search, fire crews found one adult male who was deceased; no other injuries were reported to residents or firefighters. Two fire investigators responded to the scene and are working to determine the cause of the fire. Total damage is estimated at $25,000. Red Cross was requested to assist with the twelve displaced residents.

When fire injures a person or animal, it can be devastating. Today's fire ended a person's life. More home fires occur in the cooler months... make sure you have working smoke alarms, keep your space heaters at least three feet away from anything combustible, and use flameless candles when possible.
