SRFECC Awarded "Best in Government" in Cybersecurity

Sacramento, CA- The Center for Digital Government (CDG) honored seven organizations during the third annual Cybersecurity Leadership and Innovation Awards at FOCUS 13 on October 2, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our very own Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center (SRFECC) was recognized in the county government category for improving email security without spending extra funds and improving business continuity during disasters.

This is quite an accomplishment considering recent economic conditions, and that the team at SRFECC was able to do this without spending additional budget dollars. Sacramento was chosen for excelling in several areas, including its creativity and leadership. The CDG Executive Director, Todd Sander, recognized SRFECC by stating "One of the things we liked about them was that they took a real comprehensive, team approach to their security implementation." He continued "They included a lot of participants in their planning and worked with a variety of staff. They included their vendor partners, and they really brought a team-based focus to their approach to cybersecurity."

In receiving the award for SRFECC, Chief Executive Director, Teresa Murray, pointed out that over the last 10 months their organization has undergone a complete internal change. She gave credit to the team when she stated "the important piece of this really is that the team came in and came together very quickly, collaboratively, and creatively."

Congratulations to the Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center for being on the forefront of technology and providing even greater service delivery to the agencies and citizens they serve daily.

Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center serves 2.4 million citizens, 1,000 square miles by providing dispatch services for eight fire departments within the Sacramento County Region; Metro Fire, Sacramento Fire, Cosumnes (Elk Grove), Folsom Fire, Wilton, Herald, Courtland, and Walnut Grove.
